MAIKLING PELIKULA
Pektus
Isabel Quesada

PEKTUS tells the story of a day in the lives of two men in the city -both proud, indifferent, and bound by the confines of their milieu and their choices in life – and their incidental yet preordained meeting in a one-way alley that would change their lives thereafter. Raising questions of how far people have control over what happens in their lives, the film seeks to explore circumstance versus choice, breaking points, and second chances.

ISABEL MARIA LUZ QUESADA is a filmmaker residing in Quezon City. She graduated cum laude in UP Diliman last 2015 with a degree in Film and Audio-Visual Communication. She now works as a freelance director, assistant director, and editor for various TV, Advertising and Film outfits.

Her short film Pektus won the awards for Best Short Film and Best Short Film Screenplay at the 2016 Cinemalaya Film Festival, and was nominated at the Gawad Urian for Best Short film in 2017.

MAIKLING PELIKULA is a program featuring outstanding and award-winning short films. Likewise to be featured will be a discussion and annotation by the director-filmmaker. The program will highlight the experimental and narrative genres of film.
