PARA KAY AMA tells the story of Hannah, a 28-year old Chinese-Filipina, as she deals with the recent passing of her businessman father in a car accident. During the wake, a surprising revelation unfolds as Hannah discovers and meets her half-brother for the first time. As Hannah faces the challenge of dealing with acceptance and forgiveness on the last day of the wake, she experiences a rollercoaster of emotions before finally laying her father to rest.

Born in the year 1990 and raised in Manila, Philippines, RELYN A. TAN is the fourth of six children. Her parents are both half-Chinese and half-Filipino.

Relyn graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Film at the University of the Philippines. Her short film, Para Kay Ama (For Grandmother, 2012) was awarded Honorable Mention for Narrative film during her graduation rites at the UP Film Institute. Inspired by true events, the short film has garnered several awards and has screened in several film festivals locally and abroad such as Seoul, New York and London.

Since 2013, Relyn has been working as a freelance assistant director (AD) for film, television and advertising productions. She also works as a second AD, crowd director and script continuity from time to time.

As Relyn is busy honing her craft with work, she constantly looks for inspiration for stories she can tell and intends to write and make her next film project in the near future.

MAIKLING PELIKULA is a program featuring outstanding and award-winning short films. Likewise to be featured will be a discussion and annotation by the director-filmmaker. The program will highlight the experimental and narrative genres of film.
