In this video resource, Ms. Michelle Alarcon talks about the application of analytics to supply chain. Alarcon introduces the supply chain and its “moving” parts: supplier/supply chain manager, warehouse, logistics, owner and end customers. She denotes that analytics is crucial to interpreting meaningful patterns in data and when applied to supply chain, possible inefficiencies can be identified; as well as observing if the integration of a pre-existing or new quality management process is necessarily needed. Analytics will help preserve the consistency and improvement of the products’ quality. Lastly, Alarcon concludes that “only when we leverage data that we capture about each step of the supply chain process by applying analytics techniques, can we gain insightful knowledge about it, enough to control the results that we want, which is lower cost, high quality and faster delivery time.
