Prof. Bryan Viray
PROF. BRYAN LEVINA VIRAY is Assistant Professor of Theatre Arts at the Department of Speech Communication and Theatre Arts, University of the Philippines, Diliman (UPD) where he finished his BA in Theatre Arts, cum laude.
Through an Erasmus Mundus grant, he earned an International MA in Dance Knowledge, Practice and Heritage (Choreomundus), with Distinction, from Norges teknisk-naturvitenskapelige universitet, Trondheim, Norway, coordinating institution; Université Blaise Pascal Clermont 2, Clermont-Ferrand, France; Szegedi Tudomanyegyetem, Szeged, Hungary; and University of Roehampton, London, United Kingdom.
His research interests include, but not limited to, Philippine rituals as performance, anthropology of dance/movement, epistemology of performance, and intangible cultural heritage. Bryan practices theatre and dance dramaturgy. He has served as Managing Director of Dulaang Unibersidad ng Pilipinas (DUP) from 2015 to 2018.
His research on Tubong has been published in AghamTao: Journal of the Ugnayang Pang-Agham Tao, Inc (UGAT) and Philippine Humanities Review (PHR).
