This episode of OPEN Talk discussed media literacy and how to avoid becoming a victim of fake news. Speakers are Dr. Joane V. Serrano, Director of Office of Public Affairs and of the Office of Gender Concerns, UPOU; and Ms. Marita A. Carlos, Director, Applied Communication Division of DOST-PCAARRD based in Los Baños, Laguna. They expounded on the disinformation/misinformation and fake news that are rampant in social media; as well as on how to become media literate or be able to discern true information from fake news. By becoming media literate, a person also helps stop spreading fake news.
