So this morning, I was given a task to share with you about nutrition. So what is the duty of women in the creation of our country through the support of malnutrition? So we can do something, we have special skills, women, in supporting malnutrition.

So, malnutrition, pag-usapan po natin ano ba yung nutrition. So, ano po ba yung nutrition na ano? Mula nung tayo ay kinder, mula nung tayo mag-aral hanggang tayo mag-illimit… kinder, elementary, high school, no? Lagi natin yung sine-celebrate ang nutrition man. Kailan po ang nutrition month? Oh, July. Di ba, alam na alam niyo yun?

And then, our children grow up, they are always celebrating. So we always remind them to eat proper nutrition because that’s how important nutrition is in our daily life. When we say nutrition, we mean the right, balanced food that helps us to be strong and to be able to eat healthy.

It could be in the form of food or drinks. Proper nutrition is the foundation of health and well-being for all. We always say, health is wealth. Even if we don’t have money, we are rich. We have wealth in our health. This is a key element of primary health care and it plays an important role in preventing diseases. So, we always say that prevention is better than pure. You know that, right? That’s how our mothers and our women are. So, we always need to be in the right place. So, let’s think about it. We don’t need to wait for us to get sick.

So through proper nutrition, we can prevent other diseases. So what is the opposite of nutrition? Malnutrition. What is the first thing that comes to our mind when we say malnutrition? So malnutrition differs in the deficiencies. There may be deficiencies in one nutrient or more than one nutrient.

Or it could be a deficiency in the intake of food. There are two types of malnutrition, under and overnutrition. Undernutrition is the lack of calories in our intake. So, these are two types of under and overnutrition.

So, when it comes to undernutrition, we can see that she’s young, her body’s development is not good, she’s weak. When it comes to overnutrition, we’re happy with our babies. They’re so cute! We want to pinch their cheeks, like longganisa, arms, shoulders, hips. She’s so cute! But what is that? So, she imposed… sakit.

Problems not only in third world countries but also globally. It is estimated that 1.9 billion adults are overweight. And 400 are overweight, overweight, obese. 462 million adults are underweight.

There are more, there are more overweight. For children below 5 years old, there are 41 million overweight or obese. And there are 159 million of these children are stunted. So stunted means that they are short of height according to their age. 150 million are wasted or their weight is low. So, we also include mothers who are in 528 million worldwide in those who are in reproductive age with malnutrition.

Anemia is their problem. So, as women, we have a duty in our community to be part of the malnutrition process. So, we will start with the human being. We have special skills. We are the only ones who can bring people, not the adults. Of course, the adults are part of the process for us to bring people.

But our responsibility is that we have been bringing our babies to our homes for 9 months. So that’s where we will start the proper nutrition. So if one person brings the wrong nutrition, this person can have or baby, and the baby is also small so if the baby is small, the baby can compromise the baby’s motor and mental development so if we are carrying a baby, what is the first thing that the baby can build? brain, yes, brain, right.

So if the brain of a child is not able to develop in the first month of the child’s birth, the mental development of our babies and their motor skills will be compromised. So if nutrition is not right, there is a greater risk that when the time comes as adults, the risk of developing non-communicable diseases is higher. What are these non-communicable diseases? Heart disease, diabetes, hypertension, other types of cancer. So, the risk is higher.

So, if the mother has an iron deficiency, if she has an iron deficiency, she has anemia. What are the risk factors? If an individual has anemia, it can lead to severe bleeding, it can increase her postpartum hemorrhage, and it can lead to death.

So, if the baby could die from the birth or the child could die from the birth, then the mother could also die. So, it’s dangerous. Another nutrient that we need to give importance to when we bring people is folate. If we have folate deficiency, the development of the brain of our baby could be compromised.

So if you have already heard about neural tube defects, like anencephaly, the baby is already open, right? The uterus is open when it is breastfed. So if it is malnourished, it has these defects, there is a case where the uterus is not closed. The hydrocephalus can also develop. There is also a case of spinal cord.

If you see it, there are tissues that are sticking out along the baby’s spinal cord. These are the defects when the folate supplement is lacking. Paralysis or loss of ability can occur. It is not very effective. It is also lacking in the senses. It is not felt and it can also cause death. So if you have iodine deficiency, what are the samples of iodine? Iodized salt, that’s it. That’s why this iodized salt is so popular. It’s just a small nutrient, but it’s very important to supplement. If we lack iodine, the baby could die. The baby could have depression.

If a mother has a stillbirth, she will die before giving birth. There can be physical deformity and mental retardation. If a mother is over-nutritioned, overweight, obese, she can develop gestational diabetes. Gestational diabetes is a condition where our sugar level rises in the blood while we are breastfeeding.

It can also develop preeclampsia, hypertension during pregnancy. We know that it is very dangerous. It can also cause children to be born without time. These are just samples, nutrients that can have an impact on the development of the baby while it is in pregnancy.

So there are a lot of nutrients, such as vitamin A, vitamin C, vitamin D, zinc, calcium, which are needed to complete our diet while we are fasting. In fact, all mothers here are planning their children. So in fact, before we are planning our fasting, we need to have a healthy body. We need enough nutrition to receive our body. When we have a healthy body and enough nutrition, our baby will be healthy. Do we want that? Of course, we want it. So, let’s make our baby healthy. Okay.

So let us break the intergenerational cycle of malnutrition. So what is the intergenerational cycle of malnutrition? If a woman is pregnant, if her nutritional needs are not met, a mother with malnourished child, with low weight, with higher maternal mortality. The rate of death is high. A mother with malnourished child, with anemia, can also have an anemia. So, her baby is also undernourished.

Because it is not just the delivery, the proper nutrition of our babies should be developed. Not the birth. We should remember that because sometimes we chase after the birth instead of the baby being supplied. So it should be while it is still in the delivery. So this baby, if it is malnourished, of course it has a lot of benefits. It is sick. It lacks weight, it may be sick.

So, the baby is still in school. The baby is still in school. She can concentrate on her studies because she is sick, weak, and has no energy. So what can happen to her? She may not be able to finish her studies because she is always sick. She is weak and has no interest in her studies.

He’s growing up, he’s still young, he’s still sick. He’s looking for a job. It’s hard for him to find a job now, right? Because first of all, employers are not discriminating against people with disabilities. Of course, if we’re an employer, we want to hire strong, smart, and bright people to be productive. If we don’t finish, we’ll be weak, we’ll be sick, and we won’t be able to get a better job. Our income will be low. Later on, he will build his family. So, the cycle will repeat. So, what will happen to the next generations will still be nourished.

So let us break the intergenerational cycle of malnutrition. So if the nutrition is proper, it lays the foundation of child’s cognitive, motor, and social skills. So her school performance is better. Who among us doesn’t want to honor our children? We are so proud of our children, especially when we are giving medals to our children.

We are very proud of our children. They are very tired. When we see them, we are like, Wow, my daughter is so good. She has learned a lot in school. If it’s not an honor, at least she can adapt to her education. So, it will be a challenge. Of course, if we have a good education, and if their careers are good, they will be able to get it easily because they are more productive. And if they are productive, of course, we can create a community that is developed. We can help the economy. So our developed family is healthy, strong, and capable.

In Nutrition, we have a tagline. the people are the most valuable asset of the nation. But unless properly nourished, they become not an asset but a liability. So, the people are the richest ingredients of our society. But if we cannot provide the necessary nutrition, they will be a source of income for our economy. They will be a source of income for our country. So, from our charity, care, and the provision of sustainable food to our families, we can help our people who are in need.

We will be part of that. That is our duty as women. That is one thing. We will hold onto the keys of the country. We want to have a son who is an engineer, a doctor, a teacher, a pilot, a president.

But we don’t prepare our children for the right thing. So what will happen? So again and again, we want to be able to face difficulties, we want to make our country prosperous, but we don’t have enough to do our duties. In the simple way, we provide proper nutrition to our families.

So nutrition, let’s simplify it, proper nutrition. So the National Nutrition Council developed this model. Are we all familiar with this? Yes, we are, because our children are studying it now, we are always seeing that. At first, we used the food pyramid. Now, the National Nutrition Council simplified this food model. So what is shown here? It’s very simple.

In our dishes, in our food, in our daily life, the three food groups are essential to our food. So we are very familiar with the go, grow and glow food groups. So it shows that one part of the dishes are from carbohydrates, rice. But what do we notice most of the time?

It’s like a bowl of rice. Our dishes are over-or-excessive intake of food. So protein is also one part of our dishes. And if you notice, half of our dishes are from Glowfood. Fruits, fresh fruits, vegetables, not the rice that’s on the plate. So that’s where we eat a lot. Of course, it depends on our activities, on our special conditions. Of course, some are in the bathroom, some are in the bathroom. Of course, some construction workers eat a lot. But if we’re in the office, more on seating, of course, mothers should be there.

Even if they don’t work outside, and at home, the right nutrition is also needed. It’s enough, but not excessive. What? So we will balance it. So here on this plate, have we seen any… Is there any cherry? None. Right? Are there soft drinks? When it comes to nutrition, there are always projects for the kids. Some put on a hat, make costumes. What do you do with your children’s costumes? Those costumes.

That’s it. Prutas, vegetables, right? Fruits rich in protein. Eggs, chicken, that’s it. Not sardines. Does anyone eat sardines? Does anyone have a burger? No one. Does anyone have french fries? No one. Chichirias. Your children will be wearing a costume of chichirias. So, and nutrition.

So, very basic, the grow and grow foods. So we have a tradition, if there is a Ten Commandments in the Bible, there is also a National Nutrition Council, Ten Commandments. So first, eat different foods.

The sources are different. For example, rice, pasta, noodles, for protein, it’s not just meat. So fish, eggs, tofu, beans, legumes, are different. Vegetables, fruits, and other things. It’s not because we say that Malunggay is good for the body. No, Malunggay is good for the body. It’s true that Malunggay is very good for the body. It’s a very good source of nutrients. But Malunggay is not good for the body. Variety. We eat different things. Right? Fruits are also like that. As much as possible, well… What else?

We really accept that our vegetables and fruits are expensive. But what can we do? We can do something with our crops. We can plant our crops. We don’t have land. We can use it. We can also help the environment. Pet bottles.

So, in our backyard, we can supply and provide nutritious food to our family. Tchai, cankong, okra, eggplant, they can grow in our simple pots. We say that we can plant the things that we need if we don’t have land. That’s how we do it.

Next, in the first 6 months, we need exclusive breastfeeding. We promote breastfeeding, it’s very important. Exclusive breastfeeding. In the first 6 months, mommy only needs breast milk, no water, no juice, and even vitamins. Well, unless this is… Diagnose your pediatricians who really need to supplement your baby. But if not, Mommy only drinks milk for the first 6 months. And from 6 months, we will give the baby a cup of food for them with continuous breastfeeding. So let’s start with that, the mashed potatoes, and also the nutritious foods. Just the first.

So we allow the baby to identify the taste of fruits, vegetables, and other things. Continuous breastfeeding until two years and beyond. The more we can breastfeed, the more the baby likes it, the more the mommy can help. According to studies, it has been proven that breastfed babies have higher IQ.

Physical development is better. Next is eating fruits and vegetables every day. As you can see, we have fruits and vegetables on the plate. Different kinds of fruits and vegetables. Next is eating fish, meat, and other foods rich in protein. Different kinds of fruits and vegetables, drink milk or eat rich in calcium. We must be clean and safe in our food and water. It’s not enough that we just drink. We must drink clean water. Because water can cause other diseases if it is contaminated. Sometimes, that’s a example.

If our water is contaminated, it can cause diarrhea. And if we have diarrhea for a long time, we can become malnourished. Because our body’s nutrients are always released and our body can’t absorb proper nutrition. That’s why malnutrition can be caused.

Of course, in our preparation, we need to make sure that the food is well-cooked. So make sure that we wash our hands before preparing the food. Make sure that we also clean the utensils used in cooking, our chopping board, our knife, everything is clean.

If we come from the CR, we can directly get food. The baby was tested. The risk of getting bacteria transferred to our babies is very high. Okay, so next, we use iodized salt. So the iodized salt, make sure that it is identified as iodized salt, we have iodized salt and rock salt but unless it is specified as fortified with iodine that is the right one to use sometimes we have doubts that the salt is only there in the neighboring area we are not sure about that so it is better to identify it as fortified with iodine so here is the salt.

It’s oily and sweet. So, eat in moderation. Now, we have a problem. Because of the things we see nowadays, street foods, instant foods, processed foods, that’s what we usually serve to our families.

We are already getting tired of preparing fresh food. That’s because instant noodles, instant de lata, processed food are already there. We just fry them. These foods are too salty. They are high in preservatives. So it can cause us illness.

Very accesible. In the grove, every 10 steps, there’s a coffee shop, a milk tea. So whatever we see, whatever our children see, that’s what we buy. Street food is just there. Kikyam, whatever is there in the neighborhood. So that the children don’t get too lazy to buy food outside. So we mothers will prepare food.

So as much as possible, we will give time, we will lack time, we will have the ability to prepare nutritious foods for our children. So not only biscuits that we will make, not only chichirias, not only juice, we can plant calamansi, it’s a bit expensive, the time is coming, right? So, there’s still one solution. We can plant fruits and other things that we can do with our vegetables. So, fruits, like that. If you can make fruits, healthy sandwiches, not just sweets.

In the past, I remember that the food served in schools were sopas, pancit, boiled kamote, and other things like that. There were also chubers, available in schools. But now, it’s like french fries, burger, donuts, pizza. Right? So when you compare the food, there’s a big difference.

Our natural foods, the food that we eat, the food that our grandparents ate, are healthier, they have higher fiber content, they have more nutrients, they have less preservatives, they have less sugar, the sugar is already natural in the sweet potatoes, in the tubers, so it’s already natural, it doesn’t need to be pastries, so we love pastries. That’s why we give our children more nutritious food. To be active. In the old days, our grandparents didn’t have a washing machine. I was able to reach my grandparents in Batangas.

At that time, there was no electricity, no water, so they used pots. They used to cut wood, take care of animals, like chickens, goats, cows. So their bodies were very strong in those works. Now, we can see what mothers do. So that’s it.

So, if it’s true, our lives are easier than before. So, this is how easy it is for us to progress our livelihood. Of course, there are computerized activities, there are machinery, but our activities are reduced.

There are many cars. We don’t want to walk anymore. We’ll just get in the car. Even if it’s just on the other side. And we’ll get angry if we miss a little bit. This driver of mine, I missed a lot. So if we can walk, we’ll walk. If it’s stairs for our employees or our homes, it’s also an exercise.

So, the next time we pass the driver, we should thank the driver. Thank you, driver! Because my steps will be added, my exercise. There. So, avoid smoking and smoking. Especially for those who are pregnant. Mothers, avoid smoking and smoking. These can cause defects in our babies. And these defects will no longer be irreversible.

We can’t do anything about it. So our babies are grown up now. They have defects. So mothers, have you ever been empowered? Do you realize what we can do to help our children? To reduce malnutrition and help our country? We can do it, right?

We are no longer the traditional women who only live in houses. The traditional women are not weak. They are They are beautiful. I like the beautiful. But there are other beautiful ones. Beautiful, intelligent, strong, strong. They have knowledge. They have the ability to change our society.

So, those are the empowered women. That’s how we women are. So, be proud that we are women and we have the ability. So, empowered women through nutrition. So, that’s all for now. Thank you very much for listening. Long live to all women and again, good morning to all of you.
