Dr. Jose Maria Balmaceda
Dr. Jose Maria Balmaceda is Professor and Dean of the UP Diliman College of Science. He obtained his Ph.D. Mathematics degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and Master’s and undergraduate degrees in Math from UP Diliman.
An academician of the National Academy of Science and Technology, he is currently Chair of the Technical Committee for Mathematics of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) and member of the Technical Panel for Science and Mathematics.
He has received awards for his research and teaching, such as the Outstanding Young Scientist Award from the National Academy of Science and Technology, the Science Prize from the Third World Academy of Sciences, the National Research Council of the Philippines’ Achievement Award, and UP Diliman’s Gawad Tsanselor awards for Most Outstanding Teacher, Most Outstanding Researcher, and Natatanging Guro.
