Intersectionality is a concept that originated in feminist theory and refers to the interconnected nature of social categorizations such as race, class, gender, sexuality, ability, and other dimensions of identity. The term was coined by legal scholar Kimberlé Crenshaw in the late 1980s to describe the unique experiences of Black women who faced overlapping forms of discrimination due to their race and gender.

Overall, intersectionality teaches us to move beyond simplistic understandings of identity and oppression and to recognize the complexity and interconnectedness of human experiences. It is a powerful framework for understanding social inequalities and advocating for justice and equality for all.
