Maria Isabel Garcia is a science writer. She conceptualized The Mind Museum and has served as its curator since it was conceived in 2007 to the present. She has written 2 science books especially for the non-scientists. One is Science Solitaire (2006, National Book Award) and the other is Twenty One Grams of Spirit and Seven Ounces of Desire: Measure and Meaning (2010, Gintong Aklat Award).
She has been writing a weekly science column since 2002, with the first 10 years for the Philippine Star until 2012 when she moved to be the science columnist of Rappler.
Her Friday science column is called Science Solitaire.
