Dr. Portia Marcelo obtained her Doctor of Medicine degree at the University of the Philippines Manila and her Master in Public Health at the Johns Hopkins School of Hygiene and Public Health in Baltimore, USA. She is currently an Associate Professor in community medicine, social medicine, and global health at the College of Medicine and Philippine General Hospital, UP Manila. She is currently the Director of the National Telehealth Center which spearheaded several pioneering eHealth innovations such as the National Telehealth Service Program, Real-time Monitoring of Maternal and Child Health Indicators through the Community Health Information Tracking System or rCHITS, and the RxBox, a biomedical telemedicine device aimed to provide smarter care in geographically isolated and disadvantaged areas in the Philippines.
