The area houses hectares of mangroves, fishing areas and a key spot for migratory and resident birds. Although a key biodiversity area and a globally recognized important wetland, it is mired by pressing conditions such as heavy load of waste in its shores and a plan for reclamation that may damage the natural flow of its ecosystem.
