What is the relationship between ethics and good governance?
To be able to achieve good governance, ethics is very important. So ethics yung principles natin that you govern the behavior or conduct of public servants in performing their duties and functions.
So number one, eto yung ethic of justice. It is for respectful law and the right of others. As a public servant, meron po tayong respeto sa batas, di po ba. Hindi po tayo ang number one violator, kung minsan baka tayo po ang nag viviolate. Pag sinabing bawal dumaan dyan ang sasakyan, pinapadaan naman natin. So tayo pa mismo ang nag vaviolate, so dapat hindi po ganon.
And then ethic of care. It means concern for the other or equity and recognition of different points of view. So igalang din po natin na may karapatan din yung mga iba; so meron din po tayong pagtingin sa anumang masasabi nila, baka maapektuhan sila. So we have this ethic concern for the other.
And then the third one is ethic of character.Ito po yung sense of community of responsibility or the common good di po ba. Sabi natin, ‘Ay, ang taong yan talagang bilib ka sa character niyan.’ We always hear that. It allows the person not only to perform good acts, but to give the best of himself or herself, di po ba.So meron po tayong ethic of character or sense of community.
And finally the ethic of citizenship. We provide the means to empower the people. Kung gagamitin po natin na pamantayan yung, halimbawa yung ethic of citizenship, ito po yung bibigyan po natin ng karapatan ang mga tao mag voice ng opinion. So sometimes yung mga estudyante natin, gusto nila gumawa sila ng mga social media account para po sa mga tao, para maka participate di po ba. So ito po yung mga ethic of citizenship para alam nila kung anong karapatan nila sa citizen. Ano yung duties and responsibilities nila as a citizen.
So yan po ang importansya ng ethics at tsaka ano po ang kinalaman nito sa good governance. So kung susundin natin itong mga to as a public servant, magkakaroon po tayo ng good governance di po ba? At sabay sabay po tayong uunlad at sabay sabay uunlad ang bawat Pilipino.
